Rock, rap and pop-rock collide for a night of explosive performances in Araneta Coliseum last November 21. Three of the country’s top artists treated their fans in ICON: RICO, GLOC, YENG THE CONCERT with a show that will truly made them icons in their own rights.

Opening the evening with their hits, Rico, Gloc and Yeng raised the bar high early on for their performances for the rest of the night. Backed by ever-charged G-Force and the U.P. Singing Ambassadors, the rest of the concert was sure to be one for the books. Under the musical direction of Ria Osorio, the band composed of Jay Agustin (Keyboards), Janno Queyquep (Guitars), Ardie de Guzman (Guitars), Karel Honasan (Bass), Mike Alba (Drums), Yosha Honasan (Back Up Vocals) and Brenan Espartinez (Back Up Vocals), the accompaniment was seamless and truly added to the enchantment of the night. Somewhere in their opening number, Rico Blanco even gave us a taste of his rapping skills, promising to step out of his comfort zone.

Pop-Rock Princess Yeng Constantino took the stage with her captivating rendition of Wrecking Ball. The crowd was definitely in awe as Yeng sat down to serenade Araneta with a set of her most memorable hits. Ending with her current hit, Ikaw, dedicated to her fiancé, Yan, who was seen emotionally singing along to the heartfelt ballad.

As Gloc-9 steps out, he was armed not only with fast rhymes, but also with huge surprises for the audience. The master rapper shockeds us all by actually singing! His rendition of Kanye West’s Heartless garnered a lot of cheers from the crowd. But what was truly special about his performance was his medley of the late King of Pinoy Rap, Francis Magalona’s songs, ending with Kaleidoscope World where Gloc actually made Araneta Coliseum literally light up.

Things took a slower turn as Rico Blanco entered the stage singing Nais Ko followed by Gloc and Yeng singing Batang Bata Ka Pa and Anak respectively.  The energy picked up once again as Rico Blanco together with the Bandidos delivered his own electrifying act filled with lights and movement. His own hits as well as Rivermaya’s got the whole crowd dancing to the contagious beats and also got Araneta singing the words back to him.

The concert ended with the trio singing their most memorable hits together. With the guidance of Direk Paul Basinillo, the whole production was made memorable from start to finish. From the stage to the acts, it was undeniably a stellar night for the artists and the fans alike.

Cornerstone Entertainment Inc. made all this possible and has surely made the event one the people would remember for a very long time.

Jason Mraz has been in the country for several times, but it’s always a delight having him. It’s obvious why…the man always keep things fresh in every return. And the last one is no exception. Backed up by his new-found band, Raining Jane, Mraz put on a gentler set this time around. With pockets through the concert showcasing the talents of his all-female arsenal. “I’ve always wanted to be in a girl band”, he kids. And the result is a sojourn that’s laid back, smooth and magical.
