There’s something that’s got to be said about a concert that you can dance to. No, not just sway or clap to, a show that you can bump, grind and groove your way from the start to the end. It makes you feel like youre part of the crowd, that if you weren’t there you could never understand how awesome it felt.  The Black Eyed Peas one night only concert at SM Mall Of Asia Concert Grounds on October 25 felt exactly like that. An average of 50,000 people, braving the enormous traffic and sweltering heat, trooped to the grounds to watch the Where Is The Love? This Is The Love show.

Amidst rumors that the Grammy Award winning group will be going on a hiatus, Will I Am, Taboo, Fergie and Apl De Ap gave a performance that will undoubtedly be remembered forever. The group did not disappoint as they performed a slew of their high-energy nonstop party hits, like “Meet Me Halfway,” and “Don’t Stop The Party,”, followed by longer performances of “Boom Boom Pow” and “The Time Of My Life(Dirty Bit)”. By the time “Rock Your Body” came on, everyone in the audience was simply teeming with energy and hungry for more.

Aside from their infectious dance hits, the Black Eyed Peas are also known for producing technologically-superb, electrifying shows that feature “fashionology” (a combination of fashion and technology). The group brought all these awe-inducing, spectacle-worthy details to this show as well, like Fergie’s pink galaxy dress embedded with LED lights and Will and Apl’s suits peppered with small rectangular mirrors reflecting the light that shone on them as they perform. To add to that, back-up dancers in robot costumes grooved with the four members, accompanied by laser and strobe lights.

The Black Eyed Peas are monumentally popular as a group, although it cannot be denied that they have their own individual following as well.  Each member gave terrific solo performances, starting off with the sensual and playful Fergie as she sung “Big Girls Don’t Cry.” Apl surely made every Pinoy in the audience proud while performing Mare, The Apl, Song and Bebot. Taboo, sporting a more clean-shaven, edgy look made more than a few girls squeal as he performed a couple of rap songs. However, it was Will I Am’s live DJ set that stole the solo segments .Will cleverly mixed songs like Usher’s OMG, and Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing while wearing an astronaut costume elevated several feet into the air. Moments only experienced in the Black Eyed Peas world.

Indeed, there is nothing quite like the energy that the Black Eyed Peas brings to the floor. The last song “I Gotta Feeling” couldn’t have been better suited for the finale. By the end of the concert there was a feeling all right, a pervading, pumped up high of happiness, gratitude and a little bit of sadness. Sad because it’s over but happy because it happened.  Here’s hoping this is not the last we get to see of this group that, no matter how sad we are feeling, can always manage to make us  feel like we are on top of the world.

They have also inspired many Pinoys to pursue their dreams and go for their own goals. The concert became a great party for the audience of all ages who were there and I am one of them. :)

I also want to thank Ed Clinton Go for making me attend the said event. :D
