Araneta Coliseum turned into one fun, crazy, and wild party at the Pitbull Live In Manila Concert last November 30, 2011. It capped off a mid-week holiday, and clearly, everyone was in a party mood as concertgoers grooved, gyrated and bopped to the American rapper and hitmaker’s tunes.
The electrifying night was kicked off with a live DJ set by Cebuano DJ Marlon Arellano who put everyone in a party mood by playing hits like Rihanna’s We Found Love and The Killer’s Mr Brightside. A large area in front of the stage was transferred into a dance floor complete with laser lights where VIP ticketholders partied the night away, urging some concert goers to comment that the atmosphere felt like a nightclub, adding to the overall party vibe. It took more than an hour for the concert to start, but it was clearly worth the wait as Mr. Worldwide, Mr. 305, or as he is more popularly known, Pitbull took bombastically took the stage clad in a black suit and signature aviator shades.
Even though he is known for his collaborations with big-name artists like Ne-Yo and Jennifer Lopez, the master rapper proved that he can pull off a fantastic one-man show, owning the stage and performing hit after hit, showcasing spectacular Latin dance moves backed by an energetic band, all to the delight of the audience. To feel the party atmosphere even more, several concertgoers wore bunny ears and waved their glow sticks in dancing unison.
Proving that, truly, language knows no barriers, the prolific rapper and entertainer rendered a couple of his original tunes as well, namely Bon, Bon, Calle Ocho and Krazy. Although they were rife with Latin lyrics and most of the people in the audience couldn’t understand the language, concertgoers danced or bopped their heads to the infectious tune, fully enveloping another predominant message that night- no matter what is happening in your life right now, we are all going to have an infectiously good time!
Before closing the show, Pitbull shared his message to cap off the undeniably fun concert. The rapper expressed his hope that through what everyone witnessed he was able to show the people present how he was able to turn his life “from a negative to a positive,” and wished that everyone would all be inspired to do the same. As the finale song,” Give Me Everything” Pitbull’s hit collaboration with Ne-Yo, filled the air, judging from the smiles and laughter on the concertgoers faces, it seems like everyone got that message loud and clear.
Celebrities in the audience: Liz Uy, Enzo Pineda with his date Louise Delos Reyes, Katkat De Castro, Rico Robles, Sam Pinto, David Chua and Regine Angeles.
