It all started with a production number in ASAP when Bamboo & Yeng Constatino were paired to do a cover of Eurythmics’s Here Comes The Rain Again...

Both Bamboo and Yeng are at the top of of their careers and this idea of them having a concert together is probably the most anticipated team up in the local concert scene this year. Bamboo being a certified platinum rock superstar and now a coach at The Voice Of The Philippines, and Yeng being the country’s pop rock princess who‘s making waves as a singer and songwriter and now an ambassadress of Academy Of Rock in Singapore. With all those achievements on their belts, the two humbly exchanged praises with each other during the press conference held recently at Plaza Ibarra in QC.

“I see she is someone with a plan… I see it in her eyes. When you do a particular song, you want to conquer that song, you want to attack that song. And that’s what I like and what I see. You put yourself full heartedly into the music… and when I see her do that, I admire that.” – Bamboo

“Yung nakikita mo sa kanya, onstage and off stage… pag rehearsal pa lang pag-kinanta nya yung isang kanta… feeling mo yun na yung wakas nung song. Pero ‘pag dinala na niya sa stage, lalo pa niya inaangat. Nakaka-challenge yun para sa isang artist na katulad ko… gusto ko maging ganun! Inspirational yung dating, gusto mo rin itaasa yung sarili mo as a singer, as an artist, kasi nakakita ka ng isang ganung klaseng performance.” – Yeng

When Manila Concert Scene asked them if they are planning to do collaboration for a song or an album after their concert, both said right away that they want to do it. Bamboo explained that it should come out natural, “If may mangyari, if may masulat siya or may masulat akong song, if bagay… why not. It has to come natural.”

Yeng added, “…right timing, right song, alam mo lang eh. ‘Pag nilabas mo, alam mo lang. So, agree ako sa kanya na hindi sya something na dapat ipilit. Kung ako tatanungin gusto ko yun.”

Rehearsals for the show haven’t started yet and both are still getting to know each other as musicians. Yeng shared that each time she gets to talk to Bamboo, it is like opening a gift full of surprises. Like during their recent radio tour, they first got a chance to talk about Bamboo’s influences and how he became what he is today. Yeng, lost for words, expressed how stunned she was, “Wow… parang something na bago. nakaka-ano ng puso, hindi ko alam yun pakiramdam na yun. Pero something na may nakukuha kang bago.”

Despite having though competitions in the local music scene, Bamboo doesn’t sees it that way. He said that attacking should only happen while performing the song, “Iba yung pag nagperform ka, you have an eye of a tiger. It’s the song that you’re attacking. It’s with the performance, what you want to bring out for yourself. Pero hindi yung kasama mo, or yung ibang musikero, banda, singer na kasama mo.”

This is going to be their first major concert in the Big Dome that’s why it’s very challenging and special for both artists.  They assured everyone that it’s going to be exciting, as they are preparing new stuff that will surely surprise their fans.  The set list for the show is determined by fans’ requests on Twitter, so expect that they’ll be singing only the songs you like!
