Lines ran as far as the eyes could see with giggling girls and boys giddy to get in to the concert venue. To them, it was finally happening. After so many years, the crowd couldn’t contain their excitement to finally get some closure for their teenage angst while the others just wanted to dance. Two different crowds but all gathered for the love of Tegan and Sara Quinn.
Spin Magazine regards their current album, Heartthrob, as one of the top 50 albums of the year you’ve got to hear. What they should have told us too though is that they’re probably one of the top 50 acts you’ve got to see live.
Not exactly neophytes to the performance scene, they’ve toured around the world and have been doing so for more than 10 years. They’ve been one of the biggest crowd drawers at festivals as of late and it’s not hard to understand why. From their brilliant musicality, right song choices and crazy antics on stage.
The lights dimmed the shrieks and screams were amplified. Up Dharma Down opens and as always delivers. They performed 5 songs. All crowd favorites. They open with Indak and got the audience hyped up and ready for the show by closing their set with Turn It Well from their album Capacities.
A mix of old and new songs, Tegan and Sara did not disappoint. They knew which songs to perform while the crowd just sang and reveled in the anthems and soundtrack of their lives and moments. From probably their first I love you to their most recent heartbreak, there seemed to be a Tegan and Sara song for everything.
On top of the great music that night, Tegan and Sara’s on-stage antics won the Filipino audience’s hearts over. It was the icing on the cake, the cherry on top of your sundae. Their witty whips and antics from One Direction references to petty squabbles on stage kept their fans laughing.
It was truly a great night. Something we won’t be forgetting anytime soon. We’re excited for what’s next. If this was any premonition for what 7,107 festival holds then we’re sold! Thanks to Styles for putting up such a great party. We can’t wait for the next one!
