Concert Roundup: THE YEAR OF THE ZEDD

2013 is quite possibly one of the biggest years for DJ and producer, Zedd. Consider it his moment of clarity. Garnering platinum record status, several sold out shows all over the world, obtaining a slot on the annual top 100 DJ mag list, plus scoring the biggest dance hit of the year with "Clarity", the EDM man whose real name is Anton Zaslavski proved that he has indeed transcended to dance music royalty.

That's why it's no surprise that his Moment of Clarity Manila stop over was one of the most anticipated shows this December. And truly, the boy didn't disappoint. With eye-popping  onstage graphics, fog cannons, pyro spectacle and one in your face setlist, Zedd took us to 2 hours of pure dance thrill ride. With samples of his well-known tracks such as "Spectrum", "Stay the Night" and "Lost At Sea" all welcome with massive open arms, Zedd also remixed tracks from Avicii, Florence and the Machine, Capital Cities, Skrillex, Benny Benassi and Empire of the Sun to name a few. And in synced with this aural assault, was the equally impressive visual fest! But if there’s anything more impressive than his set, it’s his generosity. As the DJ-producer swore all his profits from the show to charity, also prompting his show to be a drop off point for food donations in exchange for tickets. Good guy Zedd at its finest.

It may be his third time to play in our country, but being his first major Manila event, Zedd goes to show you that a lot can happen in a year. From playing as Lady Gaga's support act during her 2012 SM MOA Arena show, the man is finally where he belongs - front and center. Good thing 2013 happened to him. And that I couldn’t get any clearer.
