Rachelle Ann Go's SOLD OUT send-off concert last February 25 at the Meralco Theater is a real epitome of an exit with a bang. Don't fret Shinatics, as this exit is just temporary.
Miss Rachelle opened the show with a mash up of Feeling Good and Applause followed by Katy Perry's Roar and Eye Of The Tiger. During the night, Shin talked about how grateful she is for the countless support she has been receiving for over 10 years in the business. She took us back from her beginnings and sang Through The Rain, her winning piece from Search For A Star. A short VTR was then played showing her bandmates from high school reminiscing their moments with the young superstar.
The theater pumped up as Shin together with close friends Sheryn Regis and Jimmy Marquez performed Lady Marmalade. This was then followed by her rendition of pop hits Clarity, Don't You Worry and Wrecking Ball.
Shin acknowledged all the special people in her life, and four of them shared the stage with her that night.
First to do a duet with her was Mark Bautista with I Love You More Today. After this, a VTR was played showing she started her career. This was immediately followed by a medley of songs and her hit Don't Cry Out Loud.
The crowd went wild as Christian Bautista entered the stage. The ex-lovers sang Say Something taking each sides of the stage without looking at each other. Shin on the left and Christian on the right. You can feel all of Shinians' "kilig" when the two walked towards each other as the song comes to its end. Their chemistry was undeniable even with that unusual blocking for a duet!
Shin unleashed her rocker side by singing her rock version of Lorde's Royals. This just showed how versatile her voice is.
Fellow champs, Mark Bautista, Christian Bautista and Erik Santos then took the stage and gave the audience a medley of Basil Valdez classics. Seeing these men together again in one stage was a treat, not to mention how they transformed from young singers to great balladeers! Shin joined them after and the "bukingan" started. It was revealed that these lads have something in common… they all are currently single… and courted Shin before! First it was Mark and then Erik. Last was Christian, who we all know won Shin's heart. Erik jokingly said it happened because he gave way to Christian. It was so refreshing to see them having fun on stage. It was like a reunion of sort.
Erik and Shin who played the lead roles in The Little Mermaid musical in 2011, did a very emotional duet of songs Sometime Somewhere and What Kind Of Fool Am I. As they performed these songs you can feel not just how amazing singers they are but how great stage actors as well. They connected not just with each other but with the audience too. This definitely is one our favorite moments in this concert. Shin then took center stage and sang Part Of Your World.
Shin shared who her biggest influences in music are, and one of them is, of course, the one and only Regine Velasquez. The night wouldn't be complete without them sharing the stage. They sang a duet of Babalik Kang Muli and Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang. This was followed by a solo performance by the Asia's Songbird. Like usual, it was jaw dropping!
A concert will not be complete without a dance production! Shin showed us that aside from a world class voice, she's got some moves too!
Shin's road to Miss Saigon was shown with clips from her auditions and the actual email containing the offer. This got the audience all excited as the send-off concert wouldn't be complete without getting a taste of Gigi, the character she will be portraying in Miss Saigon's West End revival. Our dearest Miss Rachelle gave a special musical finale by singing Movie In My Mind followed by other Broadway classics - I Dreamed A Dream, On My Own, Memory and Defying Gravity. Her voice is just flawless considering she was a little bit under the weather that night. No wonder why the creators of Miss Saigon love her!
Shin then came back on stage for her encore singing upbeat songs Crazy, End Of Time and Run The World. Applause and standing ovation filled the whole theater. This concert was definitely one for the books. A very long one yet we found ourselves asking for more and wishing for it not to end! That only proves how awesome a Rachelle Ann Go is.
We wish you all the luck in the world Shin! You make us proud… make us even more prouder in "Lenden" (London)!
Miss Rachelle The Send-Off Concert was presented by Cornerstone Concerts in cooperation with Pink Management and Productions.
