The 7107 music festival was slated by its producers to be the biggest music festival ever staged locally – and that promise was well delivered. Attracting over an estimate of 20,000 concert goers, the international music festival was an event that was indeed worth the trip. Spanning across a segment of the 177 hectare huge Global Gateway Logistics City in Clark, the festival served up great sound system, spectacular stage production, a program flow that functioned like clockwork, and a general atmosphere of merriment amongst its attendees. Dotted with side attractions courtesy of their major sponsors, like SMART, which hosted free WIFI, an elevated viewing deck and an activity booth to help kill downtime while waiting for the onstage action.

And of course the music.

People came for the music after all.

And all kinds of people went to heed the call of music.

Boasting a dynamic line-up of cross-genre acts spanning over 2 days, 7107 included legendary headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers together with Kaskade, Kendrick Lamar, Empire of the Sun, as well as Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Asteroid Galaxy Tour, Natives, Alvaro and Kid Ink.

It too hosted the local powers of Up Dharma Down, Radioactive Sago Project, Kjwan, Spongecola, Motherbasss, Pulso, Cheats, Musical O, Abra, Ron Henley among many others. Conclusively, showcasing a plethora of musicians everyone can enjoy and appreciate. And we’re glad to note that all acts were loved by those who watched them. Even by those who live-streamed the concert via the Smart website.

Still, it was the Chili Peppers which everyone applauded most.

After all, there was a certain air of surrealism having the hall of famers in front of you. Basking in their mastery. At awe at their skill.  And no amount of words can describe the band…it just simply boils to one singular fact – they were one of the best live acts we’ve ever seen. It was historic.
And that could possibly be too, one of the legacies left by the first ever 7107 music fest.

Now to look forward to year 2.
