Last Saturday, August 2nd, we were again showcased a full array of energetic performances by Mr. Pure Energy himself, Gary V. It was a repeat of his April concert to commemorate his 30th year in the industry. Right from the get go, he was able to energize the crowd with his classic dance moves and his timeless hits.
The almost three hour spectacle showcased a glimpse of his music throughout 30 years, the phases he went through with his music, and his evolution to appeal to the younger generation. His versatility and impressive musicality is what made him as an artist and what keeps him in the business. He is the ultimate showman.
The show started with classic hits such as ‘Di Bale na lang, Eto na naman then a surprise reunion with the original members of his longtime dancers, The Maneuvers.
The show then went on to relive Gary V’s career progression to collaboration (Each Passing Night with Regine Velasquez live) then to TV series and movie theme songs. He even teamed up with DJ Papi to infuse EDM beats to his songs such as ‘Wag mo na sanang isipin” and “Hataw Na”. This proves that Gary V is one of the few who is not afraid to evolve and adapt his music for the audience.
It was also a family event with Gab (Super Selfie King) doing a dance number with his dad, daughter Keana doing a duet, and Paolo acting as the assistant director for the concert.
Aside from Regine, other celebrities who made guest appearances were Iya Villania, Sam Concepcion and Rico Blanco for the iconic track, "Babalik Ka Rin".
Aside from the celebrity guests, we are at awe at how each number utilized show pieces. Ranging from light shows to video snippets, Arise simply did not disappoint. Of course the music was the highlight. The full band set-up which included a fun horn section, worked the night away like a well oiled machine. And in the middle of this, is Gary V's incomparable vocals and showmanship. The concert super star once again proved that there simply is no one like him in the showbiz circle.
As the night came to a close, chants of “we want more” filled the MOA Arena, and Gary obliged. He emerged to sing what he calls his personal favorite songs, songs from his heart to the Lord. Songs such as “Dati Rati”, “Take me out of the dark” and to cap the night, “Warrior is a child”, left each viewer uplifted in spirit. It was indeed a successful event which left each and every goer in awe and in appreciation of the talent and brilliance of Mr. Pure Energy, Gary Valenciano.
Congratulations and thank you again to Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management Inc.
