Pasay was definitely the place to be last Saturday, August 30, 2014. While Bazooka Rocks Day 1 was happening at the SMX Convention Center, Cultural Center of The Philippines was flocked to by the fans of Against the Current and Alex Goot. CCP was packed! From the first row to the very last seat up top with fans that have enjoyed listening to their covers on Youtube.

To everyone who wasn’t there you definitely missed out. To those who still don’t know who they are, well, we’ll be kind enough to give you the low down on these two performers!

That night, Against The Current opened the show to their fans’ delight! Against The Current is a pop/rock-based band from Poughkeepsie, New York. Band members include Chrissy Costanza (Lead vocals), Dan Gow (Vocals/Guitar), Jeremy Rompala (Guitar), Joe Simmons (Bass), and Will Ferri (Drums). The band officially joined Youtube on August 6, 2011 and is managed by Michael Ferri.
Currently, Against The Current has two original singles, entitled “Thinking” and Closer, Faster, and are both available on iTunes. Notable cover songs include “Good Time – Owl City ft. Carly Rae Jepsen,” “Not Over You – Gavin DeGraw,” and “Catch My Breath – Kelly Clarkson.” Additionally, Chrissy has done several collaborations with notable YouTube cover artists, such as Heart Attack with Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider, and Beauty and a Beat with Alex Goot and Kurt Schneider.

If there was any one song that they’ve done to bring them up to a major public spotlight, it would have to be their collaboration with Alex Goot in their cover of Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen’s song, “Good Time.” They’re band alone brings sensational vocals with their own original pop/rock feel. Good, solid beats and rhythms that accompany Crissy’s vocals make for some incredible potential for Against The Current!

By the time Against The Current finished their set, the crowd got so hyped as Alexander George Gut or more popularly known as Alex Goot took the stage! Goot hails from the same town as the members of Against The Current. Born on March 15, 1988, Goot is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist from New York. Goot grew rapidly through the channel lists YouTube Top 200 with his covers of famous songs and his original songs by The Script (Breakeven). His channel, GootMusic, is among the over 100 registered with more than one million subscribers. He plays acoustic guitar, bass guitar, piano, drums and other instruments.

Goot began recording music in 2004 at the age of 16 and since then has gained popularity from his profiles on various social network sites, as well as his own website, from which he distributes some of his music and provides news and regular updates. His time is almost all spent in his home studio self-producing all audio and video for his releases, or touring the world.

Goot released his first studio album In Your Atmosphere, which was made possible by his fans via an extremely successful KickStarter campaign. He is the example of celebrity in the YouTube age; self-driven, self-promoting, aside from his musicianship, relying on modern messaging and technology to get heard. His YouTube channel has about 1.800.000 subscribers and his videos have been viewed over 200 million times.

According to Goot, his inspiration is to show the love he has for music. He further states that he "had no plan B".

Goot has made several videos in collaboration with other artists such as We Are the In Crowd, Kurt Hugo Schneider, Megan Nicole, Sam Tsui and Against The Current.

Goot has released three volumes of Songs I Wish I Wrote with some of the versions of his channel on YouTube.

It was definitely a night to remember for both fans and the performers themselves! Hopefully a repeat happens soon!
