Probably the only female guitarist of her generation who has conquered the globe with her immense talent and remains to be the most sought-after by the world’s biggest acts, award-winning Australian musician Orianthi Panagaris, or simply Orianthi, impressed the hell out of Manila’s Concert Scenesters with a series of gigs around Manila last month.

Orianthi performed in several venues in Manila from August 19 to 27 in line with the promotion of her single "Every Road Leads Home To You" and the release of her first "Best Of…" record, which was released in Japan this month. Orianthi held special performances on the following dates: August 27 at the Hard Rock Café in Makati; August 25 at 19 East in Parañaque; and August 22 at Chef and Brewer in Ortigas Center.

To kick things off, Orianthi had a press conference last August 19 at Hard Rock Café, followed by a special appearance at AMPed, a fund-raising concert of the Midlife Crisis band and AMP, last August 20 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater at Resorts World Manila. The concert was for the benefit of the Midlife Crisis band’s music scholars and for the building of classrooms.

In her first official gig in Manila at Chef and Brewer, rock fans were treated to a surprise jamming session with our very own Arnel Pineda! Orianthi showcased not just her guitar shredding skills but her vocals as well by singing a duet of Knocking On Heaven's Door & Livin' On A Prayer with Journey's frontman.

She did some originals and covers of some classic rock songs. Some of the originals she played were Heaven In This Hell, Better With You, According To You, Think Like A Man, What's It Gonna Be and You Don't Wanna Know.

At the Hard Rock gig, a day or two apart from the second show, a lucky fan was able to jam with Orianthi and be a rock star for the evening.  Caren Tevanny of local bands General Luna & Sanctus couldn’t resist the lovely musical atmosphere that she also joined in the fun and jam with the guitar goddess!

All three gigs were backed up by an all Filipino band consisting of Janno Queyquep on rhythm guitars, Bobby Taylo on bass, Rickson Ruiz on drums, Gino Cruz on keyboards and Lisa Del Valle on back up vocals. Orianthi was impressed and the crowd was blown away!

Orianthi enjoyed her busy week-long stay in Manila as seen on her posts on her instagram account! During her shows and interviews, she's been hinting on a return next year with Richie Sambora! We definitely can't wait for that! (Photos grabbed from Orianthi's instagram account: @theqof)

For those who don’t know who Orianthi is, here’s a list of what she’s all about:

-Best known as the lead guitarist personally handpicked by the late great Michael Jackson for his monumental concert tour This Is It, Orianthi has played for and with the biggest and most diverse artists in the world such as Carlos Santana, Alice Cooper, Steve Vai, Michael Bolton, Prince, ZZ Top, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, John Mayer, Dave Stewart and Richie Sambora.

-Voted as Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year in 2010 by Guitar International magazine, Orianthi was exposed to rock music at an early age when she started taking an interest in the record collection of her father who was also a musician.

-She begged her dad to buy her a second-hand guitar and then bought all of Carlos Santana’s videos on VHS which she wore down while trying to learn his solos. Santana’s visit to Orianthi’s hometown in Adelaide when she was 11 proved to be a turning point for her.

ORIANTHI EVERY ROAD PROMO TOUR is presented by Sanre Entertainment and Primeline Management and Production, Inc.
