The good fellows of Vybe Productions flew Charli XCX last April to bring her own flavor of pop to Manila’s shores. The concert was held at SM Aura Samsung Hall, one of the indie scenes favorite places to hold concerts.
Charli started her career independently by playing warehouse raves in her hometown in London back in 2008. It was only after 2 years that she was signed to Asylum records and released two mixtapes in a span of another 2 years. It was only recently that she earned international fame when she released two major hit singles, Icona Pop's "I Love It" and Iggy Azalea's "Fancy".
What sealed the deal for her international fame though was her latest single Boom Clap which pretty much what the crowd did the whole concert. It was a lovely sight to see the audience genuinely dancing and singing along.
Her set list consisted of old and new songs. She opened with Sucker, and followed her opening song with Breaking Up. She also did a cover to the audience’s delight with I Love It (Icona Pop cover).
Some of the other songs worth mentioning that she performed were Famous , SuperLove, Doing It, Need Ur Luv, You (Ha Ha Ha), So Over You, Body of My Own, Allergic to Love (Snuffed by the Yakuza cover), London Queen, Break the Rules, Grins, Boom Clap .
A pop princess in the making, Charli XCX is definitely a new and welcome addition to performers to definitely watch out for.
