The duo came, and the duo conquered - man was it a sight to see. Taking over Alabang Town Center and Trinoma with insane energy, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun weaved in through their discography with tightness and skill. Ultimately rocketing through a sea of fans (a lot in red beanies) inside the Ayala Malls. Making a huge venue intimate and in your face.
Fusing their penchant for rap, punk and elements of electronica, Twenty One Pilots enveloped the Activity Center in their exciting brashness. But beyond this infectious force, and stage acrobatics their musicality stood anchor in this frenzy. From the simmering hooks of “Stressed Out” to the killer pop hooks of “Holding On To You”, the two boys produced a show that highlights their exhilarating talent. And this same level of artistry continued on with their performance of other hits such as “Guns for Hands”, “Car Radio” and the massive “Tear In My Heart”.
Ultimately ending the show with Tyler declaring, “We are Twenty One Pilots…and so are you.”
Twenty One Pilots’ meteoric rise since the release of Vessel saw the band named an MTV Artist To Watch, and give unforgettable live performances at the 1stannual AP Music Awards, 2014 MTV Movie Awards, and Late Night With Seth Meyers. Named #1 in Alternative Press’ 10 Essential Albums of 2013, Vessel continues to gain momentum with the highest selling week for their album occurring recently at the end of their two year album cycle, and over 300,000 copies sold, and over 1,000,000 singles sold to date. And we’re glad to see these guys land in our country for a weekend.
As one concert-goer in Alabang describes, “They were intensely amazing and I loved every bit of it. As a fan, their performance definitely did not disappoint. They gave one hell of a show, singing songs from their current album to their old ones.”
