New generation DIVAS in concert

Kyla (Queen of R & B), Yeng Constantino (Pop-rock Superstar), Angeline Quinto (Queen of Themesongs), KZ (Soul Supreme), Rachelle Ann Go (West End Diva) are some of the music industry’s best female performers of their generation.

From the stages of London’s West End to the biggest concert venues of Manila to the recording industry, the five of them have made their marks in the music and entertainment scene. All have garnered recognitions and awards both here and abroad. Aside from the fact that they are all champions in their own right. All are strong performers, each with her own unique style and stamp. They have also become very good friends through the years, and artists who support each other unconditionally. By coincidence, all of them are also under the same management : Cornerstone Entertainment. Now, these five powerful and talented voices join forces for a once-in-a-lifetime concert on November 11 at the Araneta Coliseum. Billed “DIVAS : LIVE IN MANILA”, the concert is produced by Cornerstone Concerts and directed by Paul Basinillo. A true celebration not just of musical geniuses, but also girl power at its finest.

Leading this all-star cast is R & B Queen Kyla, who is marking her 16th year in the biz. A certified platinum artist and multi-awarded performer (she was the first East Asian female artist to win at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001), Kyla was a champion from her earliest years, topping the Tanghalan ng Kampeon in 1993. Today, she is one of the most invited by foreign artists for collaborations with hits to her name. Recently also, she hit a new level of popularity with her rendition of “On the Wings of Love” from the top-rating soap of the same title. Kyla is also one of the big winners of the recently concluded Himig Handog 2016 (2nd best song with Kris Lawrence for Jungee Marcelo’s “Monumento”). Yeng Constantino, the pop-rock superstar, started her career as a graduate of Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) after winning the title of Grand Star Dreamer in 2006. This year, Yeng—who has numerous hits to her name starting with her mega-hit “Hawak-Kamay” to recent smash hits like “Chinito” and “Ikaw”—marks her 10th year in the industry with multiple awards and recognition here and abroad. Also one of MYX’s most awarded female artists. She has also collaborated with Singapore’s Academy of Rock, making her the first Filipino artist to be so honored, that made her its very first Asian ambassador. Currently, Yeng is part of the upcoming Angry Birds official movie soundtrack and one of Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s resident judges in It’s Showtime. Angeline Quinto is another product of the reality search route, being the grand champion of Star Power in 2011. She is now a respected artist with numerous hit songs to her name, especially those used as themes in soap operas that tagged her as this generations’ Queen of Themesongs . A first-class power belter with a voice that soars to the highest of heights, she has also done successful, full-house concerts, solos and collaborations with other artists. “Parang Tayo Pero Hindi” a duet with Michael Pangilinan is also a big winner in Himig Handog 2016, which bagged the 5th best song trophy. Soul Supreme KZ, from being the very first grand champion of X-Factor Philippines is the newest in this batch of DIVAS, but despite being so, has successfully established herself as a performer to watch. KZ’s unique brand of artistry has resulted in several hit songs and memorable moments onstage, and she is also starting to spread her wings abroad through collaborations with other artists. KZ also recently interpreted (with Jay-R) “Laban Pa”, the third prize-winning entry in the Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2016 contest. Her big hits “Mahal Ko O Mahal Ako” (also a big winner in Himig Handog 2014) and “Wag Ka Nang Umiyak” have both dominated the airwaves and charts, and became anthems of many Filipino music lovers. Finally, there’s Rachelle Ann Go, from her humble beginning as the ultimate champion of Search For A Star in 2004, she is now the country’s newest West End diva. Following the footsteps of Lea Salonga and other successful international Pinoy stage performers, Rachelle Ann also blazed a trail of her own in local and international music circles with her stunning performance in the Manila staging of “Les Miserables”. Rachelle Ann has now become a certified world-renowned artist but has not forgotten her Pinoy roots.

In “DIVAS: LIVE IN MANILA”, Cornerstone Concerts will give local concert-goers an unforgettable musical experience when it brings these five DIVAS together. With these artists being proven musical powerhouses and the best in their respective genres, this concert will surely be one to watch out for! Expect world-class collaborations, unique musical numbers, impeccable staging and consistently excellent singing that you would come to expect from performers of their caliber.

DIVAS tickets are available at Ticketnet outlets and online come August 2016.
