G-Dragon's Moment of Truth in Manila

G-Dragon’s ACT III: M.O.T.T.E Moment of Truth The End in Manila
by Bea Gabuya

BIGBANG member G-Dragon finally made his much anticipated return to Manila! This time, on his own as Kwon Ji Yong (apart from BIGBANG) as part of his Moment of Truth The End ACT III: MOTTE world tour.

Even before he stepped onto the stage, the excitement could definitely be felt in the air! When the show opened with his first solo hit Heartbreaker, the reception was both deafening and heartwarming. Throughout the show, he delighted fans with songs from his albums Heartbreaker, One of a Kind, Coup d’Etat, and his newest self-titled album, Kwon Ji Yong. The energetic performances and stellar production were as amazing as all the love and warmth his fans showed him.

The SMART Araneta Coliseum was packed with VIP fans, waving brightly colored light sticks and concert paraphernalia, while dancing along to Kwon Ji Yong’s tracks Intro, Who You?, and Super Star among others. But nothing could have prepared the hearts of all the people inside the Big Dome when Sandara Park joined him on stage to perform Missing You and Hell. DaraGon (OTP term for the pair) fans couldn't contain their excitement, showering them with deafening cheers, especially when they introduced each other on stage.

Later on in the show, Kwon Ji Yong gave a short speech and explained to his fans how he came up with the self-titled album and his second world tour. He charmingly shared he wanted to share the less 'flashy' side of himself with all those who have supported him throughout the years, even when he tours as part of the K-POP super group, BIGBANG. There was an anxious vibe while waiting for Kwon Ji Yong to get back on stage for his encore performance, but when he came up on stage to sing Crooked with Sandara Park again, everyone went wild.

As the show came to a close, it was easy to see his reluctance to leave the stage, as he dragged the microphone stand back and forth. But before saying goodbye, he did not forget to reassure his adoring fans that it was definitely not his last performance in Manila. I know I speak for everyone who was there that night when I say we're still on cloud nine---on a Kwon Ji Yong high---and that we can't wait for his return!
